DIY: Concrete washi tape display!

Washi tape is one of my favorite crafting supplies, they are so cute, but also expensive. If you already payed 5 dollars for a tape, why not display it? Here’s a simple, diy way to do it:

You’ll need everything in this picture:

(bowl of water, plastic plate, cement, stick, rubber gloves, acrylic paint, big cube silicone mold, and lollipop stick)

First, you’ll need to mix your cement with water. Add it little by little and mix well. You’ll want a wet, but firm consistency. If you stick the lollipop stick and it’s able to stand, you’re good to go!

Pour the mix on the mold, and insert the acrylic stick. This can be replaced with a wood stick. I just like it to be translucent. Note: You can choose the size of your stick, mine was about 30 cm. Find something to keep the stick in place, and leave it to dry overnight.

When it’s finally dry, get it out of the mold. A tip for getting it out easily, is to spread some vaseline on the mold before pouring the cement mix. But normally this will pop out like an ice cube.

Sand the rough surfaces and edges, with a rough wetordry sandpaper (80 or 100), and move to a fine sandpaper (400, 600, 800) with water. This will give you a nice and soft finish

In your water bowl, put the cube and cover it with water. Leave it for 1-2 hours at least. This will help the concrete stregthen and minimize the appearance of cracks.

Finally, when it is dry, paint it with your acrylic paint. I used a golden paint, and painted just a third of the cube. You can paint a different design, or try with different molds!

Have fun and comment if you have questions! 🙂

Oversized cardigan winter outfit

I love this kind of cardigans, this one is from Zara, I found one similar. Super soft and warm!

I just wore it with a Mango striped shirt, and a Forever 21 button up skirt. Tights are a winter must for me, and this Ugg boots keep my toes cozy.

The skinny skirt and thights work with the oversized sweater. Balance is key when wearing baggy clothes. 🙂

The only problem with this outfit, is that the skirt keeps riding up and if I bend down the lowest button pops open. Just something to keep in mind if you want a buttoned skirt!

Do you prefer oversized sweaters over fitted sweaters? Comment down below! I hope you have a fun weekend!

Making the best bread pudding

I have always been a fan of bread pudding (especially the one from Le Bouchon). Recently I learnt how to make it, and I was obsessed. Keep reading to learn my foolproof secrets on making bread pudding!

First, make sure your bread is old, mine was like 10 days old. When the bread is dry, it will absorb more custard, making it extra moist.

Then, the custard ingredients. I kept it pretty simple (keep in mind that I used this for about 3 loafs of bread): a liter of milk, 2 cups of brown sugar, a good splash of vanilla extract, a stick of melted butter, 6 eggs, 3 egg yolks, and a pinch of salt. I also added nutmeg and allspice. I really wanted the vanilla flavor to stand out, and I added a looot (maybe even 1/4 cup?). But I’m telling you, it was perfect with all that bread.

Next, I combined diced apples, dried cranberries, raisins, and the cubed bread on an ovenproof dish. I topped it with chopped butter and sugar, this melts on the oven kinda like caramel. De-li-cious.

Finally, I poured the custard evenly, making sure all the bread was moist, not soggy. I let it rest while I preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and cooked for about 45 minutes, or until it looks golden brown.

And that’s it! Hope you enjoy it!

diy: 5 minute stamps!

Stationery is so pretty and fun, but it can be really pricey. If you’re crafty, you’re gonna love this! It’s really simple and cheap, and perfect for journaling or decorating notes.

I made 4 in half an hour, on both sides of the eraser.

  • Plastic eraser (the cheapest, the better)
  • Wood carving tools (you can use an x acto knife or cutter instead)
  • Water markers (Crayola fine tips are fine)
  • Paper
  • Pencil

  1. Choose a design that fits on your eraser, I recommend simple shapes, especially if it’s a small one. I drew a bunch of ideas before, and filled in the shapes to picture how it would look like.
  2. Draw it with your pencil on the eraser, keep in mind that when it transfers, the shape will be mirrored.
  3. If your design is smaller than the eraser, cut it, so you can use the rest for another one.
  4. Start carving all around your shape. You want to leave the design untouched, and the rest about 3mm deep. I used the curved carving tool for the silhouette (this can be really tricky, do it slowly), and the flat for the rest, carving horizontally.
  5. Once you’re done, paint with the marker on the shape and stamp it. Fix any details you don’t like, until the stamp looks like you want it. And done!

It’s kinda hard to make a perfect shape, so don’t feel frustrated.

Note: NEVER put your fingers on the way of the blade. Keep them on the side towards you, and carve away from you, or you’ll be asking for stitches!

I used the little circle to do a pattern with different colors, and it looks like a cute washi tape, can’t wait to make a few more with other shapes!Feel free to ask any questions on the comments, and share if you make them!

Bullet Journal vs Planner|Why I switched

Hi there! Today I would like to share with you my personal thoughts about the different methods of planning I’ve tried throughout the years.

It wasn’t until 2015 that I first learned about the bullet journal method. It seemed so appealing and cool, I wanted to try it right away, but I already had bought an agenda for 2016, so I stuck with that, and decided to try it on 2017. So, the day came and I was ready, the only problem was to choose a notebook. I picked this one, even though it was blank because I liked the thick paper and the little doodles for coloring it had. Anyway, I liked it very much.

I loved how customizable it was, how every week looked different, and the fun I had doing it. So, why did I buy an agenda?

Around summer 2017, I started to notice the big fault in the way I used my bullet journal. I was using it mainly for school, so my problem was that Sometimes the teachers would assign homework a month or two ahead, and I didn’t know where to write them down. Other times I couldn’t get the time to make my spreads, and I was left without any place to schedule my daily activities. This was the main reason why I decided not to continue. It bummed me out, cause I really enjoyed it, but I needed something more stable, where, no matter how far away or how busy I was, I could plan ahead. This really gave me peace of mind, which for me, is one of the main goals.

So I bought the agenda of my dreams, the Bando Agenda. And I really love it. I try to decorate it and make it look pretty, which is really fun. Still, I do miss some features of my bullet journal. My weekly notes, expenses, and sleep trackers. The lists and the satisfaction of looking at the finished spreads.

I know that most people recommend to keep the journal simple, and I know the goal is to be organized, not artistic. But, truth be told, I really care about the way it looks, that’s one of the reasons I get motivated, so I couldn’t keep up.

What I’m trying to say, is that, if you procrastinate, and have a busy schedule, probably an agenda is a better option for you, as it was for me. It doesn’t even have to be expensive, it only needs to get the job done. I really would like to give journaling an other chance, while keeping a simple planner for work/school related stuff. Another option I really want to try, is the happy planer. I love how customizable it is, and all the accessories that they sell.

I would love to hear what is your method, and if you have any tips for me!

Apple Pumpkin oatmeal

If you’re anything like me, you probably aren’t ready to say goodbye to pumpkin season. Luckily, this recipe doesn’t call for fresh pumpkin, just canned purée, and the flavor is really good!

I didn’t really measure each ingredient, so feel free to play with them. Also, you can spice this up with a little nutmeg and allspice, or pumpkin spice, if you have them.

1/2 cup Rolled Oats, I buy this brand.

1 cup of Water

1/8 to 1/4 cup of sugar

1/2 cup of Milk

Apple, diced

Nuts or almonds, I use sliced almonds.

Dried cranberries

1/2 cup canned pumpkin purée (or blend your pumpkin for homemade)

  1.  Put your diced apple, water, cinnamon and sugar over medium high heat. Boil until the apple is tender, and the water has reduced.
  2. Add the rolled oats, milk, and pumpkin purée, mix well.
  3. Finally, add the dried fruit and mix. Serve warm. 🙂

Note: I normally add milk slowly while mixing, so I can decide the consistency, it may vary. Almond milk is a good replacement for this recipe.

Bon appétit!

2017 outfits recap

This year I started working in an office, so this meant I had to dress better than my usual jeans and concert t-shirt. This were some of my favorite outfits last year, you’ll have to excuse the mirror selfies, but I didn’t plan this ahead *facepalm*.

I bought this jeans in my trip to New York, and had to wear them the next day. I love them with tucked in t-shirts.

For a day in Oaxaca City, I wore this super light linen shirt paired with a midi skirt, which is perfect for the hot weather.

Neck tie: Zara

Again the hounstooth pants . I love them for a business casual look.

Bad photo, I knooow, but the pants are so comfortable and light for the summer. Perfect if you want to feel fresh without shaving your legs…

Ok, this was the only good picture I had with this outfit, but I HAD to include this. The jumpsuit is possibly my favorite garment I bought this year.
